I haven't told you in my first post, but when I rate games I'll do so in stars (I'm so original). I will "test" a game for several elements and give it points if it fits that fields requirements. The fields will be as follows: Good graphics, good game play/control, music, stays fun(Doesn't get boring) and any special thing in the game that's unique.
Because of my name and whatnot I find it fitting to rate Sonic And The Secret Rings (SATSR) for the Nintendo Wii (The only next-Gen system I want and will ever own for a looong time)'
Graphics:
I was pretty impressed with the graphics on this game, although they where not much compared to Sonic The Hedgehog for the 360 and PS3 they where quite impressive. My favorite moments graphics-wise in SATSR was probably the water in Dino Jungle and Pirate Storm, along with the reflections on the floor in Night Palace, and the transparent glass-like look of the Wierd place (Also part of Night Palace). I think they did good considering the graphics quality allowed with the Nintendo Wii, So it gets a star!
Game Play/ Control:
In SATSR you held the Wii Remote Sideways, you used 2 to jump and 1 to slide and to "turn" or in this case "dodge" you tilted the Wii remote. Lastly if you wanted to walk backwards you had to turn the Wii Remote so the buttons where faceing you. The game play style was vary different from other Sonic games, Sonic runs along by himself along a preset path and you help him dodge spikes, fire, walls and pots, and so much more. Over all this games control was difficult, it seemed a bit over sensitive, specially when you tipped it backwards to backstep and you would start walking backwards when you didn't want to. I could go on but there is no point in it, the controls where sometimes confusing, the preset path took out the fun of a "Freeroaming inviroment" and eventhough I like Sonic games I have to leave out this star, sorry SEGA!
Music:
Sadly the music in this game was good but the words in the songs ruined it. I found it annoying to here the words: Who's the rocking place" (Or atleast thats what it sounded like) playing over and over covering up some awesome violen music in the Evil Foundry level and to hear rapping on the final boss (I don't like rap). Yet I did like the Dono Jungle song: "In the wicked Wild" it seemed true to the Sonic music yet didn't live up to "Live & Learn" one of Sonic's best songs and also the theme from Sonic Adventure 2 for the SEGA dreamcast known better as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the GameCube(My other console). Sadly I can't give SATSR the star for music, even though the music itself(not the words) was good.
Stays Fun:
SATSR is fun when you start, when you beat Erazer Djin, and for a while afterwards, But then it becomes kinda monotonous. Unlike most Sonic games once you beat a level when you just get to the goal, many other challanges pop up, like: get 99 rings, don't defeat enemeys, and so on. even though it has a ton of challenges, it just kinda gets boreing after you have beaten the Erazer Djin the first time, but scince it's fun till that point I'll give it a star!
Special:
Their are some special things I want to say about this game:
>This game has voice acting (I like that in a game)
>The cut scenes look like a book (This game is based on The Arabian Nights)
>This game has a neat party mode (some people consider this a ripoff of Mario Party, but I think it's fun).
This game gets the special star!
Sonic And The Secret Rings is an allright game 3 out of 5 ain't bad, but if you hate sonic now, you'll hate him more after this game! But if you are a like the Blue Dude with the 'Tude you shouldn't pass this title up.
